MTC WEEK 4! AND WE ATE OUR FIRST MINT!

 May 7, 2013

Well it is May. Friday is our month mark but it feels like we have been here longer haha. I still keep writing April, I am slowly remembering :)

P-day last week was great! The temple, amazing. Honestly, I miss going more. I was remembering all the times I had gone by myself and with others in the Logan temple and I just remembered how much I love the temple :) When I get back, I will definitely be going more than I have! Like they say, you always learn when you go back, even as a missionary! There was a cute older lady in a wheel chair and it made me think of all the cute ladies I had seen at the Logan temple :) It was neat to see someone who could pass off not going to temple but were still going! :)

We have P-day on our devotional day so no class! The devotional was about family history and it's importance in missionary work! The temple is the goal, absolutely :) The devotional was great after my day at the temple! The best part came afterwards! We have 3 missionaries in our district going to Peru Trujillo mission and they had ran into their new, soon-to-be Mission President and wife! They were coming to visit them after our district review. Obviously they aren't going to be my Mission President, but I felt sooo much love for them. I nearly started crying! (p.s. emotions here at the MTC, I CRY TODOS LOS DIAS haha. I am pretty sure once I meet President and Sister Douglas, I am just gonna cry some more.) We just talked with them about their mission and what they have learned. Anyone going to Peru is lucky--especially Trujillo! It was a great day! We didn't want to leave them, but they will be seeing the others soon enough.

With May, brought new teachers and a new schedule. I had mentioned about the new schedule last week--there have been some good and some difficult days. We received a new teacher and we had the hardest time connecting with her. We were all getting discouraged because we Peru people want visas. We couldn't connect with our new investigator either. My companion and I had a great experience in receiving revelation for "Isabella". We had both been reading and then both of us came across the same scripture we felt she needed. When we tried to tell her about the experience, no hablo espanol. We could not get the point across and it was SUPER frustrating.  It was just getting to the point where we're getting ready to crack haha. We ended up having to talk and had to change our attitudes as a district. "Quit yo' complainin' and bury week 4." Haha I am pretty sure that could sum up our week. It was a good experience to learn :)

The next days were MUCH better! We slowly learned to love our new teacher, investigator, schedule and the fact we aren't in Peru.

Yesterday during our lesson with Isabella, Oh. My. Hannah. haha I was SPEAKING SPANISH! And we felt the Spirit and she understood  us and it was GREAT! It's not because I have been working super hard on my Spanish (I have don't worry) but I have been relying on the Lord SOOO much more! And it is creating miracles. I mean, I can speak Spanish! More importantly, we were able to listen to the spirit and find out her needs. It was great!

Speaking of Spanish, I have had some pretty great mess ups. The other day in a really spiritual moment, I was trying to say, "Estoy animado" for "I'm excited". Instead, I said "Estoy anaranjado" and for anyone that has taken Spanish 1 knows that is "I'm orange." Haha Leave it to me to say something wrong, but it's okay :) I am learning!

The MTC has changed not only my spiritual side. For anyone in my family, this might come as a shock to you. I WILLINGLY put TOMATOES on my hamburger the other day. Haha I honestly laughed to myself because I swore I would never do that. I can't eat them plain but who knows by the end of the mission!

SUNDAY WAS GREAT! I loved it! I think I have said the same thing for weeks now. We had mission conference because of Fast Sunday with everyone at the MTC. It was great! One of my favorite lines was "Reverence is the atmosphere of Heaven". They talked about the song "Come Thou Fount" and I, of course, was slightly emotional. I already loved that song so much and now I love it even more! Sunday devotional was Chad Lewis, he used to play for the Eagles. I wrote in my journal within the first few minutes, "This is feeling like a pep talk before a game." And it was. I most definitely needed it! I left my journal with all of my quotes in the classroom or I would send a list. They were great! I felt pumped and ready to go out into the field! Haha Amazing how a past football player does that.... We watched "Legacy" after and now I think to myself, "The pioneers were able to cross the plains; I can serve a mission."  Sunday just was a great day to remember my purpose and to remember Christ.

We got a new district this week, 8 missionaries! They are great! They are adjusting pretty well! One of the sisters actually lived in Fielding and we might have went to elementary school together for a little bit? Haha Crazy huh?! What a small world! This week we are getting another district of 10 missionaries! We are the "old ones" in the zone which is crazy!

Coming up on week 6, I might get reassigned. But the rumor is they are running out of places to put us "visa-waiters". One of our Elders actually received word that he got his visa last night but we don't know any details of when he will be leaving. When they were talking to the travel office they said "Glad to know something is coming out of Peru" haha  So.... we'll see. It might be one to two months before I get it but it might be next week. It is so up in the air no one knows what is going on. I will know more the end of this week into next week if I will be getting reassigned or just staying here. The Lord will put me where he needs me and if it means being here at the MTC, then so be it :)

I am excited actually that I might see people I know start arriving here at the MTC :) I love seeing a familiar face, it just makes me feel like I am at home.

Love you all! The MTC is great! The Gospel is true! The book is blue! And I have a brother named Drew! Until next week!

The District... :)
Hermanas of the District

Affectionately known as "The Twin Towers."
She was able to get a photo before they left this week.
And then there were SIX...
Actually an Elder received word that he had received his Visa
on Monday and  possibly left this week.
