WEEK 15... Chicken on a Leash

July 22, 2013

Hola!

This week went by quick it felt like. On Saturday I kept asking what day of the week it was because it didn't feel like Saturday. The beginning was a little rough, a lot of knocking which is my favorite, right? :) It was pretty hot and we were only finding English speakers which don't get me wrong, they are great! But we prefer those that habla Espanol. :)

We had this crazy, random experience though. :) The other day we just got out of a recent convert lesson with F. (p.s. I LOVE her :) ) We were talking to our pal Andrew when we saw a girl with a chicken on a leash in an apartment complex "yard". Ha-ha So we of course had to take pictures. We were taking pictures with the girl and her chicken when her dad came out on the porch watching us. Then he was trying to tell us what it was and "I couldn't hear him" slash I still don't know Spanish ha-ha. So he slowly came down to us where we started talking about how he works on a ranch (yes, I was all smiles during this experience) and that his boss had given him the chicken for dinner the next day. Turns out, he's met with missionaries before. Yes, it was 14 years ago; but it's a start. He thought we couldn't have meat or pop--we clarified that :) AND the best part is that we have been looking for this man for WEEKS! He owns a white Tahoe and whenever we see him, he's super nice. We have tried to find out where he lives but no success. UNTIL now! And his wife is friends with our recent convert F so we'll see what happens. :)

M got baptized! It was exciting! :) Hermana Haubner and I played a musical number that we literally played through once but it was good :) AND we have D’s baptism this Saturday which I might be giving a talk, yes in Spanish. Pray I have the gift of tongues :) My Spanish is A LOT better, don't get me wrong. But that doesn't mean I can speak it fluently :)

Things are going good here. I really love it! I learn a lot each new week. I have started to sincerely enjoy missionary work, all of it. How great is my calling as a missionary? I can't even comprehend it. I am a representative of Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the entire world! I have the opportunity to teach others about this beautiful massage that we, as missionaries, have been set apart to do. I've probably said a thousand times before and I'll probably say it a million times more but I am so glad I decided to serve a mission. I have learned so much and I still have a while to go :) It gets better and quicker each week!

Love you! The Church is true so... Share it with someone :)
